Personal Life

Manivannan was born to R.S Maniam, rice merchant and textile trader in Coimbatore and Maragatham in a small town called Sulur in Coimbatore District. Manivannan married Sengamalam and they got a daughter and a son, who is also an actor popularly called as Raghuvannan.

Death

Manivannan died shortly after the release of his 50th directorial venture Nagaraja Cholan MA, MLA due to a heart failure on June 15, 2013 in his Nesapakkam residence.

Director, Actor Manivannan Passed away today due to cardiac arrest

Famous Hollywood actor, writer and director R. Manivannan passed away (June 15, 2013) today following a cardiac arrest at the age of 58.

His friend said that he passed away at his residence in Nesapakkam. He was survived by his wife, son and a daughter.

The friend said that, “I can’t believe he is no more. He was perfectly fine when I met him recently during the release of his 50th directorial film.”

Actor Siddharth tweeted on Twitter about the death of the multi-faceted talented actor, “The great Manivannan Sir is no more. Many lives in cinema are what they are today because of him. Writer, director, actor… gone too soon.”
